Model and drawing: which one leads when they disagree?
Keep the geometry and the requirements on the same revision. If they disagree, mark the difference before the review starts.

A model helps describe the shape. A drawing can state dimensions, tolerances, datums, threads, finish and inspection requirements that shape alone does not explain. Sending both gives the review a shape to inspect and a written set of requirements to discuss.
Give both files the same revision
Put the part reference and revision in the RFQ. Check the STEP model against the dimensioned PDF before you prepare the request. A matching name is useful, but the contents must describe the same part too.
If the model is revision A and the drawing is revision B, say so. Identify what changed and ask for review. We do not silently choose which file takes priority or assume that the later filename settles every difference.
Name the difference
A useful note names the feature and the two files. For example: “The model is revision A; the PDF is revision B. The hole pattern changed. Please review the difference before quoting.” This is a fictional revision example, not a manufacturing instruction.

Keep the requirements with the geometry
Mark the features that decide whether the assembly works, the datums they refer to and any inspection evidence needed. A model alone does not tell us which bore carries a fit or which surface needs a particular finish.
A complete RFQ does not need a long story. Quantity, material, matching revision, required features and a delivery request are a useful start. Mark anything undecided rather than guessing.
Check before the RFQ
- Part reference and revision stated in the request
- STEP model and PDF drawing checked together
- Any disagreement named by feature
- Critical dimensions, datums, threads and finish identified
- Inspection documents and requested date included
Keep confidential files out of an assistant conversation. This demo accepts no genuine drawings. The request form lets you mark the files to prepare and use a bundled sample attachment without uploading anything.
